A historic meeting took place at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia, where Professor Dr. Iman Al-Basheti, Vice President of Jadara University, joined esteemed counterparts from Monash University. Together, they embarked on collaborative discussions with the accomplished team responsible for the MyDispense program within Monash University's renowned Faculty of Pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences — an institution consistently ranked among the world's top fifty universities, with the faculty of pharmacy currently holding the prestigious 2nd place worldwide in the field. This significant gathering marked a pivotal moment in the partnership between Jadara University and Monash University, heralding transformative advancements in the fields of education and pharmacy science. The meeting also included Keith Sewell, a distinguished senior Project manager, learning technologies, and Kenan Beaumont, senior learning technologies developer. Adding to the expertise was Kylie Hatch, who serves as the project and executive officer for this groundbreaking initiative.

The centerpiece of this partnership is the MyDispense program, an innovative online pharmacy science simulation tool. MyDispense empowers students to develop and refine their medication dispensing skills and offers invaluable guidance for patient care. This platform provides a secure environment for pharmacy practice, allowing budding pharmacists to learn from their mistakes without real-world consequences, especially during the early stages of their careers.

MyDispense offers a safe and realistic medication dispensing experience, complete with interactive exercises that help students build confidence in dispensing pharmaceutical products safely and providing comprehensive guidance to patients. The program features a dispensing system that replicates the functionalities of commercial pharmacy dispensing software, delivering a true-to-life experience. At the conclusion of each exercise, students receive feedback and tailored advice on their medication dispensing performance, enhancing their learning experience. MyDispense supports the entire medication dispensing journey, from initial patient and physician communication to the professional delivery of medications, featuring virtual patient representations, barcodes, labels, and real-world pharmacy products.

As part of this partnership, both universities will showcase the MyDispense platform at an international pharmacy conference to be hosted by Jadara University in the coming year.

Collaborative research studies are also planned to explore the benefits of MyDispense for pharmacy students and academics in Jordan and the broader region, with a view towards global application. Furthermore, specialized training will be provided to technology and pharmacy experts from Jadara University to facilitate the use of MyDispense among staff and students at Jadara University and other institutions in Jordan and the Middle East.

The collaboration will also focus on the ongoing development of the MyDispense system and the establishment of a support group to assist users. Additionally, discussions are underway to train students and pharmacists in providing the medication management review service through MyDispense in the future. This initiative, supported by Jadara University, aims to equip students and trainee pharmacists with clinical cases and ample data to conduct continuous pharmaceutical reviews for patients, address issues related to patient treatment, and provide evidence-based recommendations.

At the close of the meeting, commemorative shields were exchanged as tokens of collaboration and mutual commitment between Jadara University and Monash University.
