- A prominent gathering of academics, researchers, and university officials inaugurated the 8th International Conference on Arab Impact Factors, often known as the "Arab University Ranking" conference. Professor Dr. Ma'moun Al-Debi'e, representing Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Professor Dr. Azmi Mahafzah, launched the event. Jadara University, the Arab institutions Association, and Arab Impact Factors coordinated this important conference to discuss Arab institutions' worldwide academic position and impact.
The Jadara University "Arena" hall in Irbid hosted the inauguration, which was attended by significant personalities. Dr. Shukri Al-Marashda, the University's Board of Directors and General Director, and Prof. Habis Al-Zaboun, Acting President, also attended. The event was graced by Professor Dr. Amr Azat Salama, Secretary-General of the Arab Universities Association. The gathering comprised Conference Chair Dr. Mahmoud Abdel Ati, President of Arab Impact Factors., University Vice Presidents Prof. Iman Bashiti and Prof. Mohammed Ta'amneh, Honorary Guest Dr. Mohamed Talib Obeidat, respected college deans, devoted professors, and vital administrative staff. The event included distinguished Arab, local, and international university alumni.
In his keynote address during the opening ceremony, Prof. Al-Debi'e applauded Jadara University's steadfast dedication to academic excellence and its commitment to leading scientific progress and educational challenges. He highlighted the pivotal role played by the Arab Universities Association in organizing conferences that address the concerns of Arab universities. These conferences not only foster collaborative higher education policies but also enhance partnerships between Arab universities, enriched through initiatives like Arab Impact Factors.Professor Dr. Salama's speech underscored the increasing importance of global university rankings in shaping higher education policies, advancing knowledge economies, and improving university efficiency. He emphasized their influence on strategic planning, academic collaborations, and university choices for students and parents.
Prof. Al-Zaboun eloquently outlined the rapidly evolving landscape of education and knowledge in today's globalized world, underscoring the critical role of competitiveness, especially in the context of knowledge-based economies. Professor Dr. Abdel Ati shed light on challenges faced by Arab researchers due to the dominance of English-language publications in global rankings. He emphasized the urgent need for accurate assessment methodologies for Arabic-language research and proposed the establishment of a scientific body responsible for classification, citation, and evaluation of Arabic research, termed as the "Arab Impact Factor."
Professor Dr. Bashiti delivered a speech in which she emphasized that Jadara University, since its establishment, has adopted a policy of advancement and excellence in the field of scientific research, considering it a fundamental pillar in building a knowledgeable and humane society capable of promoting sustainable development to achieve excellence in scientific and research fields, as well as serving the community. The honorary guest, Professor Dr. Obeidat, discussed the era of the third millennium, the era of science, technology, the fourth industrial revolution, the digital transformation revolution, the age of digitization, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and cloud computing. He emphasized that the present time necessitates progress and advancement in scientific research and scientific publication mechanisms to align with the language of the era and technology.
The opening ceremony was graced by the presence of Professor Dr. Ghassan Awad, President of Abu Dhabi University, and Professor Dr. Firas Al-Hanandeh, President of Ajloun National University. Also in attendance were Professor Dr. Mohand Al-Mashhadani, President of Gulf University in Bahrain, and Professor Dr. Mohammed Saeed Khunbash, President of Hadramout University. Dignitaries included Professor Dr. Abdel Majid Ben Amara, the Secretary-General of the Council of Scientific Research in the Arab World, Dr. Ahmad Al-Binyouni, the Libyan Cultural Attaché in Jordan, and Professor Dr. Khaled Naji, Chief of Arab Nobility in Iraq, along with numerous enthusiasts, academics, and researchers. The ceremony was masterfully orchestrated by Professor Dr. Wafi Hajj Majid.
Dr. Al-Marashda and Dr. Al-Zaboun presented Dr. Al-Debi'e with the university shield after the event. They gave participants shields and certificates. In gratitude, the Arab Universities Association President offered Drs. Al-Debi'e, Al-Marashda, Al-Zaboun, and Al-Khazaaleh the association's shield.
The conference's opening session covered crucial subjects. Dr. Abdelmajid Ben Amara, Secretary-General of the Arab Councils of Scientific Research, presented the Arab Alliances Initiative for Scientific Research and Innovation. "Metaverse in Higher Education," presented by Gulf University President Dr. Mohand Al-Mashhadani, was another subject. Egyptian Deputy Minister of Higher Education Dr. Essam Khamees spoke "The Path to Fourth Generation Universities". Also presented was "The Rhythm of the Experience of Death in the Poetry of Mohammed Mahdi Al-Jawahiri," by Dr. Alawi Al-Hashimi, former Higher Education Council Secretary-General in Bahrain.
The second session, hosted by Professor Dr. Ihsan Al-Rabba'i,the dean of graduate studies, Jadara University, had talks by Drs. Amani Hanafi, Nasser Badan, Um Al-Saad Ahmed Hamouda, Zeinab Mahmoud Ahmed, Zeinab Latifi Abdul Karim, Amal Jamal Ayad, and Walid Shaaban. They studied university rankings, AI, and scientific publishing's future. Drs. Ali Abdel Samie, Hamdi Mahmoud Ahmed, Hazem Jadallah, Atheer Hassani, Rafqa Barsoum, Marcie Cohen Haddad, Kauther Al-Sharif, Manar Ismail, and Rahab Rajab Mahmoud presented at the third session. Their research included artificial intelligence, international journalist protection during wars, and cybersecurity's role in enabling scientific publication on social media.
These enlightening discussions showed recognized experts' passion to promoting knowledge and tackling academic issues. The conference promotes higher education and research innovation, cooperation, and idea sharing. The meeting addressed important themes such scientific research partnerships, AI's influence on education, and scientific publication cybersecurity. The conference offers deep insights into Arab universities' worldwide influence and evolution.
